Saints have beaten off interest from former manager Gordon Strachan’s Celtic, and a host of English sides, to the signature of Liverpool’s England Under 19 winger Adam Hammill.

The youngster looks set to make his debut at Eastleigh on Saturday and will the number 14 shirt for the coming season.

Manager George Burley was delighted with his new signing. He told the club’s official website, ‘He can play left or right and is a quick player that likes to take people on. He has bags of potential and I am very pleased to have got him here.’
