Southampton’s Europa League season began with a win against Sparta Prague at the St Mary’s Stadium on Thursday.
Claude Puel collected his first win as Southampton boss with the Group K opener in the Europa League was won three-nil against Sparta Prague to get the European season off to a flyer.
A challenge on Austin by Nhamoinesu was adjudged to be a penalty so the chance to take the lead came.
Austin and Tadic argued who would take it with captain van Dijk leading Tadic away, fortunately Austin scored with Southampton ahead on five-minutes with the two celebrating together!
The second came before the half hour mark when Austin headed in a Martina cross marking his European debut for Southampton with a goal as he had his Saints Premier League debut last season, with him starting just once in the league this season.
In injury-time Rodriguez rounded off the win with the third.
