Japanese defender Maya Toshido has put pen to paper on a three year deal after joining Saints for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year spoke to saintsfc shortly after the deal bringing him from VVV-Venlo was concluded and he said.

‘To come to the Premier League was one of my biggest dreams. I am very grateful to be able to become a Saint and I will do my best for the team and the supporters. I saw a video of the recent history since the takeover, which showed me the great supporters when the club was promoted last season. I want to show them what I can do as soon as possible and hopefully impress them with my performance.’

Nigel Adkins was delighted with the capture, and added.

‘We are delighted to bring in Maya to the club. He is a centre half who is comfortable on both the right and left as he is good with both feet. We are looking forward to having him here.’

The move now just requires international clearance to come through, as his work permit has already been agreed by the Home Office.
