Saints To Let Sharp Cut His Way Out To Reading

If, as seems possible with reports suggesting that both clubs have agreed a fee, Billy Sharp moves to Reading, it could be a good move for him. The reported price of £1.2m seems fair as well.

Saints bought him to help the push for promotion to the Premier League. The fact that he had a big say in the final push was reason enough to believe that he would be with us last season.

This wasn’t to be as he was sent out on loan for the season to Nottingham Forest. He did quite well there but now is being hunted by a few other clubs as he is not in Saints’ plans for the future.

If Billy goes to Reading it will be down as much to former manager Nigel Adkins who signed Billy for Saints. Nigel must think he can do a job if the rumours are correct though that seems slightly odd as he was manager when we sent Billy out on loan.

My wish for the lad is that, if he does end up at Reading, and they succeed in gaining immediate promotion, Billy gets a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.
