Former West Ham starlet Oscar Rowe led the way with a powerful performance and the 17yo was a threat to the Pompey rearguard throughout .

With many of the U16’s drafted in to give most of those that played midweek a rest the first half was a fairly mediocre affair.

With the promising 17yo keeper Steve Mowthorpe rested it was the turn of 16yo Chris Johns to impress with some superb work between the sticks.

Centre back Jordan Turnbull scored the opener for Saints from a good centre which he headed powerfully home.

Jake Sinclair who has been getting some rave notices was also doing well, and he also came close to scoring whilst also setting up chances for others.

The second goal came after good work from Rowe who threaded a pass through to Dominic Gape, and Gape tucked the chance away well.

In the end we saw the much changed Saints team out perform Pompey and comfortably win by the two goals to nil.

On Thursday we will learn who Saints will meet in the next round of the FA Youth Cup as Nottingham Forest play Wigan Athletic and we meet the winners.
