In a close encounter Liverpool U21’s managed to beat Southampton U21’s after an own goal from Jordan Turnbull handed them the lead on the hour mark.

Liverpool who had remained unbeaten during the first half of the season dominated the game for long periods but chances were made at both ends.

A tough start for the Saints eleven but there were bonuses. Jack Stephens had his best game according to Martin Hunter and he passed on a good word for Matt Targett as well.

It was also pleasing that our young team kept going and as the end neared were able to step up the pressure as they searched for an equalizer.

So a disappointing start but Arsenal to look forward to this Sunday.
