Martin Hunter’s team faced a Leicester side that had no fewer than eight internationals in their line-up.

The performance from the Saints team was a vast improvement on their previous one, and they lost by a solitary goal which was scored just before the interval.

The was scored after an error by Saints defensively and try as the did their was no way back for the under 21’s.

The second half saw Lloyd Isgrove hit the underside of the bar but the ball went safe from the shot. Sam Hoskins also made some telling runs down both flanks, and put in some good crosses.

Martin Hunter put in a good word for his team and said that the performance was pleasing. ‘I was delighted with the team work and ethic from start to finish which was pleasing against a very experienced Leicester side’, he told Saints player.

He added that there was now competition for places and that several players were playing for new contracts. In that light he felt pleased that this was a big step in the right direction.
