On Saturday 5th January Saints hosted Chelsea in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The game went well for Saints for half an hour before the Blues began to take control. In the end Saints were well beaten losing 5-1.
Now we travel to Stamford Bridge to face a team that is making the scoring of goals look easier all the time. Occasional blips aside Chelsea will be expecting a top four finish and they have a midfield to drool over.
The game will be hard but we will be going there looking to win. Whether we do or not might depend on them losing their scoring boots or us showing remarkable defensive qualities that we have not yet seen.
We can hope for the latter and with Artur Boruc showing improved form with every game maybe we can nick something from the game. Even if the bookies say not possible.
Chelsea may bring back Demba Ba and John Terry could start as he nears full fitness.
Mata is a player that makes everything look so simple.
Adam Lallana, Jose Fonte and now Luke Short are probably out. Though Luke may be back soon. Guly has been ill and may also be a doubt.
A lot will be expected from our keeper and he will certainly be kept busy.
These two teams have met 44 times at the Bridge. Chelsea winning 20, drawing 12 and losing 12.
