A rival consortium to the Pinnacle group say they have to cash ready the launch a bid for Southampton.

Marc Jackson, a Dorset businessman has been following the sale of the club very closely has now revealed his interest and that he had a current international manager lined up to be in charge of the side for next season.

Jackson, who wanted to buy Bournemouth last year, revealed that joint administrator Mark Fry from Begbies Traynor got in contact with him this week.

“Yes, they have recently contacted us.’ He told the Daily Echo.

“I assume that is because they are protecting their backsides should Pinnacle fail.

“They have no choice and I hope that they are also looking to protect the club.”
