Both goals came from set pieces and Ryan must have given our watching manager and his assistant another nudge in the first team selection stakes.

His first goal came from a corner which dropped in front of him enabling him to slot home to give the Saints XI the lead in the 14th minute.

The lively Saints had more chances in the first half with Guly smashing a shot against the frame of the goal. Holmes again played well for the time he was on the pitch.

The second half was less entertaining as both sides began using substitutions. This curtailed a lot of Saints fluidity but still chances were made.

Saints did get a break when the Rovers XI seemed to score with twenty minutes to go but it was ruled out for offside.

Ryan made the game safe with 3 minutes to go with a header from a Ben Reeves free kick. This performance left Martin Hunter highly delighted.

After the game he said, ‘It was a very good team performance, the first half in particular. We were not as productive early in the second half but we did have chances.’

The Saints team for this match was :-
Bialkowski,Sam Argent, Aaren Racine, Ryan Tafazolli, Ryan Dickson (Jack Saville 60), Andy Robinson (James Ward-Prowse 65), Harlee Dean, Ben Reeves, Lee Holmes (Matthew Reece* 80), Guly (Jack Boyle 75), Ryan Doble.

Matthew Reece is a trialist.

Another good win for the team after a 3-0 at Watford which augers well for the future.
