Southampton To Play Catch Up Again

Our cause was helped with a couple of the favourites to be up near ther top losing points.

Sheffield Weds and Colchester fought out 1-1 draw which in time could be a good result for Weds.

Peterboro were totally outplayed by a rampant Bournemouth side to the tune of 5 goals to 1. Marc Pugh opened the scoring for the Cherries on ten minutes with Anton Robinson scoring ten minutes later.

Brett Pitman, the Cherries talisman, then chipped in with a superb second half hat-trick, with Peterboro managing a single goal in reply. This showing makes Bournemouth a team with a good shout of finishing in a good position. It also shows that Peterboro could still be frail at the back.

Oldham and Charltonboth maintained their perfect start with good wins. Charlton winning the Friday night game shown on Sky in good form by beating Leyton Orient 3-1.

Oldham had an excellent win at home beating promoted Notts County 3-0. Dean Firman opened the scoring on 31 minutes, with two second half goals from Oamere Tounkare and Kieran Lee wrapping up the points.

Bristol Rovers put their hammering in midweek behind them with a last gasp winner against Yeovil.

Brighton drew an exciting game with Rochdale 2-2 as Rochdale levelled in injury time to salvage a point.

Hartlepool were two goals ahead against fancied Swindon but let them back into the game and had to settle for a point.

Brentford lost 2-1 at home to Walsall and Huddersfield were unable to break down Tranmere’s rearguard having to settle with a point on a 0-0 draw.

Finally we come to Plymouth who are another team fancied to do well this season. After winning at Southampton last week they were headin for defeat at home to Carlisle until a 90th minute equaliser.

So we now know that our game will be played on September 15th at MK Dons. Both teams will be hungry for the points as we both try to close the gap on the division’s leaders.

Next week-end we are at home to Leyton Orient and MK Dons visit Carlisle. We with luck will be at full strength by then so just maybe the postponement could work in our favour.

For our game against Leyton, it is hoped that we can manage to get a near full house as our own tribute to Markus. it is the least his family deserves to see from us as a thank you to Markus.
