Saints went down 3-2 to Stoke after going down 3-0 at half time. Goals from Darren Powell (OG), Shawcross and Sidibe put Stoke 3 up, all from corners.

Saints got back in the game with a superb second half performance. Stern John’s superb volley made it 3-1 and he got another a few minutes later, to make the last half a nervy one for the puny gathering of home supporters. Mustering only 19,000, despite having a buy one get one free offer and flying high in the league. The home supporters were described: ‘If you told a Stoke supporter they had won £1million they wouldn’t be happy because they would want £2million.’ by a Southampton journalist.

But nevertheless it’s seems that Paul Gregg, a former Everton director is in talks of a takeover.

Gregg was born 1941 and has been linked with previous takeover’s since leaving Everton.
