What a Saga

Is nothing simple when it comes to Southampton Football Club?

When Polish striker Marek Saganowski joined on loan from Troyes in January, many wondered why we were signing another striker while Rasiak was firing on all cylinders.

A few months down the line and Rasiak’s goals and appearances have dried up and Saganowski’s impact on the first team has been nothing short of sensational.

Saganowski, who is just one goal shy of double figures already and he is enjoying his time at SMS. So much so that on two separate occasions he has come out in the press to state that he wants to stay with Southampton next season.

Surely its a no brainer whether or not Southampton would want to sign someone with the talent of Saganowski on a permanent deal?

Well according to Burley, it’s not as simple as that. He told the Echo: ‘Marek has done very well and of course I would like to keep him but there are so many things up in the air at the moment and a lot of things to get sorted in the summer before we know whether we can sign him permanently.

‘First of all, we have to know what league we’re going to be playing in, then finance comes into it as well.’
