Bale has reportedly turned down an offer of a new contract at Southampton, while Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid have all been sniffing around the 17 year old Welsh International.

The papers have reported that Saints have rejected bids of up to £8 million from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

But now the Bale saga looks set to end with any decisions on whether he stays or go’s being left until the summer and mainly on whether Southampton make it back to the Premiership.

Burley told the official site: ‘Things are going to be left until the summer. We want to know where we are and if we are promoted that would influence a lot of things.

In the summer, the player and the club and everyone will sit down and look at it then. But he is definitely staying until then.

‘I said from day one he would be here until at least the end of the season and hopefully a lot longer. Nothing has changed on his situation.
