Burley Baffles with Selections

Dear George,

I shan’t need to write many more letters if you carry on making team selections like yesterday’s.

I have often wondered during the season why you seem to omit or substitute players who are doing well.

Against Sunderland you chose to field from the off, not only the lightweight Nathan Dyer but also Djamel Belmadi who is short of match

harpness.

On the bench you left Danny Guthrie who has revitalised the midfield since his arrival and Drew Surman who has been in good goal scoring form over recent weeks.

Whatever were you thinking about?

The half time introduction of Guthrie for Dyer brought an immediate improvement (and a goal)but then you have another mental aberration, introducing the also lightweight Bradley Wright-Phillips when you had Rasiak available.

Poor Drew Surman never made it off the bench.

I’m afraid mishandling of the squad in this manner is not good enough. Too often you are throwing away good chances for the club to make progress.

As a manager this week, I give you 2 out of 10.

Regretfully, RedRobin.
