Kelvin Davis feels that the current Southampton side is the best team that he has ever played in.

The Saints keeper has played in the Premiership with Sunderland and has been involved in two play-off season’s with Ipswich Town.

The 35-year-old then made his £1 million move to the south coast five years ago, and he has become captain and a fans favourite.

And the keeper told the Daily Echo that despite playing Premier League football – this Saints side is the best.

‘It`s a fantastic team to play behind and is certainly the best I`ve played in.

‘We`ve got better players at this football club than we did at Sunderland when I was there.

‘We have a strong squad with players who can step in and do a job at any time.’
