Iain Dowie has taken over at Coventry and his first match is a home game against Southampton.

The former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic manager’s announcement as the new manager will be enough to cause Southampton problems according to gaffer Burley who told the Echo: ‘A new manager can sometimes be a big lift for the players – they’ll all want to show him what they can do.

‘Iain Dowie’s experienced and did very well at Crystal Palace. It didn’t quite happen for him at Charlton but I’m sure he’ll get them well organised and very motivated, so it’ll be tough.

‘But we can’t worry about them – we have to look to play our own game.’
