Southampton make the long trip to Yorkshire to face Huddersfield Town tomorrow afternoon.

The Terriers have been tipped for promotion, with former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark in charge at the Galpharm to take the Terriers to the Championship.

But Pardew’s men have confidence from Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Northampton in the Carling Cup, with £1 million signing Rickie Lambert on the score sheet, and the former Bristol Rovers man looks to have cemented his place in Saints’ starting 11.

Huddersfield also cruised through to the second round in their 3-1 victory over Stockport County, and the Yorkshire outfit will want to improve from their 2-2 draw with Southend United last Saturday

Vital Quotes: Pardew on Huddersfield:

‘Hudderfield are one of the favourites and they’ve spent a bit of money. I’ve looked at their team and they look as strong as Millwall.

‘Away from home we need a different set of characteristics and we’ve got to be mentally tougher and a bit shrewder.’

Huddersfield Town Team News:

Midfielder Michael Collins is suspended following his sending off at Southend on the first day of the season.

Tom Clarke looks to replace Collins, but Jim Goodwin will miss out with a knee injury.

Player to watch: Danny Drinkwater

The Terriers have just signed Drinkwater on a season long loan from Manchester United.

The 19-year-old starlet looks impressive and will surely be the one to watch in League One for Huddersfield Town.

Southampton Team News:

New signing Rickie Lambert looks to partner Marek Saganowski, who has just returned from his international duties with Poland, up front for the Saints.

New loan signing Jacob Mellis has been put into the side, and could feature in the midfield for Saints boss Alan Pardew.

Player to watch: Rickie Lambert

Having scored on his debut against Northampton on Tuesday, the former Bristol Rovers man has shown why he was the leagues top scorer, with 29 goals last season.

Definitely the one to watch.
