Like many others he is looking forward to a big week in the first week of the new season. Two mouth watering games start the new campaign with Plymouth and Bournemouth both visiting St Mary’s.

Recently relegated Plymouth Argyle will be keen to show that they are ready to fight for a quick return to the Championship.Kelvin admitted that it is nice to start with a home game but that added to the pressure, as we will be expected to win.

‘You really want to get off to a good start, so the fact it’s at home and against Plymouth who have just come down from the Championshipand will fancy their chances, means that it is a chance to hit the ground running this season.’

Three days later and we will be facing newly promoted Bournemouth at St Mary’s in the first round of the League Cup.

‘It’s another fantastic tie, and being at home does give us a slight advantage. The early stages of the cup give the manager an opportunity to sort the team out.’

Adding, ‘I think it’ll be a tasty tie against Bournemouth.

I have to agree as several Bournemouth sites are bigging up the confrontation and they are generally giving out a lot of smoke signals threatening allsorts.

Talking to the ‘Saints OS’ Kelvin said how he was not particularly looking forward to the pre season but that he was though keen to re-unite with the lads.

He feels that last season was a big season for the team and the club as a unit. We have come through so much and a lot of good rebuilding was done last season.

Myself I also feel that last season was a massive season for us. Starting with a very disjointed and badly out of quality team we gradually saw our new players bed in and change things around.

As Kelvin said, we are now looking for more improvements this season. I think we will have a big season and will end up as champions of the division at the end of it. Maybe even keep the Johnsons as an extra.

Only one thing could make this season even better. Another home draw against our friends in Blue, in one of the cups so that we can really become top dogs of the south again.

To be able to beat, Bournemoputh, Brighton and Pompey in one season would really put the icing on the cake.
