Nigel began his career at Prenton Park over 25 years ago as a professional football. He is still the youngest goalkeeper to have played for them and still holds fond memories of his time at the club.

Talking about the game, Nigel said that past results mean nothing when the game kicks-off. The defeat last season and the two before that will be of no consequence.

Every game that we play is looked at to see where we did well and where we did not so well. Then we de-brief and draw a line under the game and move on.

Simple words and maybe when winning more than you lose it works doing it that way but time will come when we lose more and then confidence will slip.

Nigel joined us this season and was in charge for the reverse fixture which we won 2-0 and could have scored more.

However he is expecting a tough game and says that Tranmere boss Les Reed has done a great job there. he also expects a lot of trouble from set plays with so many large players in the opposition.

Nigel even made special praise for a left winger that Tranmere are bringing through, staing that he is a bit like our Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Nigel’s family will be there and that gives him even more of a reason to have a win on Saturday.

He will be taking them out for a meal after the game and says that he is a terrible loser and doesn’t want to be a grouch when he is with his parents.

So we can expect him to have his team ready to play to protect his parents ears.
