It’s being reported today that former potential favourite, ex Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, will not be taking the job on at St Mary’s.

The Daily Echo are one to report that sources close to the club have informed them that although Pellegrini was a long term favourite within the walls of the club, the decision has now been taken to remove him from the shortlist of potential candidates.

With Jurgen Klinsmann’s late surge the last two days up the bookies charts as well, they also suggest any real interest in him from Southampton is wide of the mark in reports.

With the club hoping to have Ronald Koeman’s replacement confirmed by July 4 so he can be well prepared for pre season and the return of the players, time is running short and the list keeps getting smaller with former Roma boss Rudi Garcia also being taken off the list as the club do their due diligence.

With Vitor Pereira dropping off the list wit his commitment to Fenerbahce, one name they do say remains in our heads is former Nice boss Claude Puel.

Hopefully the time and trouble taken in due diligence will see the next man ultimately continue the improvements of others.
