Report: Premier League giants slap £15m price tag on defender wanted by Southampton

|

Tottenham have valued right-back Kyle Walker-Peters at £15m as the north London club look to cash in on their academy graduate, with Southampton interested in the youngster.

Football Insider claim that Spurs are leaning towards selling Walker-Peters on a permanent deal this month rather than loaning out the youngster, with the report stating that Tottenham are now set on offloading the defender for good despite rumours that the 22-year-old could leave north London on temporarily.

Southampton, as well as Crystal Palace, are reportedly keen on the England youth international, with The Southern Daily Echo reporting last week that Ralph Hasenhuttl are keeping an eye on the youngster as the Austrian manager aims to bolster the Saints options at right-back.

Is the defence the number one area Ralph must improve this window?

Yes, we leak in too many goals

No, things are starting to turn around for us

Yan Valery has been out of action for some time due to a viral infection whilst Cedric Soares is set to leave the club at the end of this season as revealed in an interview with The Telegraph in November, meaning that the need for a right-back this month is great for the south coast club.

The Saints face stern competition for the signature of Walker-Peters, though, with The Evening Standard reporting that Palace are very interested in the defender and the clubs are in discussions over a deal, with the Eagles still yet to find a clear replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

With Walker-Peters available for just £15m, Southampton could do well to secure the defender for a fairly cheap price tag who has shown over the past few seasons to be capable of playing in the Premier League, and with the Saints in desperate need for a right-back, the 22-year-old fullback might be worth the risk despite his lack of playtime this season.
