Southampton announced tonight that Northern Ireland international and former Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has joined the club.

The 27 year old has Premiership experience from his time at Aston Villa and Fulham, before moving to become the captain of former Scottish Giants Rangers.

Speaking to saintsfc Steven Davis said of his move to St Mary’s.

‘I’m delighted to get everything done and dusted, and I’m looking forward to getting started. There was quite a bit of interesting in me from other clubs but, after speaking to the chairman and the manager, I saw the level of ambition the Club has shown. They don’t want to stand still, they want to keep moving forward and that was a big thing for me.’

Manager Nigel Adkins was obviously delighted to capture the influential midfielder.

‘It’s very good and I’m very pleased. Obviously the work the club has gone and done to make it happen is really promising for the future. Steven’s an experienced player, a very talented footballer.’
