He is pleased to have brought in Billy Sharp and said how good it is when he looks around the changing room seeing the options available.

With Jos Hooiveldt signing a full contract, Tadanari Lee arriving from Japan, and Yago Falque coming in on loan, the Sharp deal complements a good all round month.

Nigel even said how the phone often rang with agents trying to push players onto him. He said, ‘there has been a lot of media attention out there and I keep getting told about players that we have been linked with. I have agents phoning me saying ‘I believe you are interested in my player?’ and the answer has been ‘no, where have you heard that from?’

Talking about the team he said how he was pleased to get Chun(Tadanari Lee) onto the pitch against Cardiff. He was also pleased to see how David Connolly fared when put in the whole behind the strikers.

With Jos Hooiveldt out injured he commented that their had been a lot of speculation about us requiring another centre back. He did say that Jos was training again and would hopefully be back soon.

With the emergency loan window starting on the 7th January this option is still going to be available if the need arises through receiving more injured centre backs.

I do feel that his refraining from adding a centre back shows faith in those we have at the moment available to us. This thought must have crossed those players minds as well which would boost morale and confidence.

Nigel says he is happy with his success in the window and I guess that makes us feel much the same.
