A quick loanee update on Aaron Martin and his time so far at Coventry.

With thanks to CCFC from Vital Coventry.

1 – Were you surprised, annoyed or delighted that your club signed Aaron Martin on loan when you did and did you know anything about the player before he signed?

It was a pleasing signing considering the club were just about to go under a transfer embargo but I don’t think too many people knew anything about him.

2 – What has been your impression of him? Do you think he should’ve played more, or has he struggled to have an impact?

He had a shocker against Swindon alongside another young centre-half but has been steady since then alongside the more experienced William Edjenguele.

3 – Martin is with you until the end of the season, is that something that pleases fans and are you hoping that maybe a more permanent deal could be done in the summer?

I wouldn’t have thought a permanent deal is on the cards as he is providing cover for Richard Wood more than anything.

4 – What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are having seen him play?

He’s not afraid to come out with the ball at his feet even if his passing has been a bit wayward at times.

Pleasingly at least it seems with an older head to help him Martin’s performance levels have picked up after his shocker against Swindon. Hard to predict what the future may hold for him.

It was really a disappointing loan spell at Crystal Palace earlier in the season, and his spell at Coventry is showing he has plenty left to learn – which isn’t a criticism at his age – but would he figure in Pochettino’s plans?

In some ways given his age I don’t think he will leave in the summer, but I can certainly see the strength in maybe sending him back to league two next season for the whole campaign so he can really get some good first team experience to see how he then develops to see whether he can maybe grow into an option for us.
