Saints to struggle?

SOUTHAMPTON face Torquay United today in the third round of the FA Cup.

A match like this against a struggling basement division team shouldn’t be a problem for Burley’s Premiership contenders but the gaffer thinks otherwise.

The official site has reported: ‘The conditions may not allow us to pass it and we will have to battle. Cup football is about rolling your sleeves up and showing a bit of character. It won’t be pretty and we will have to scrap to get through.

We have had Torquay watched and although their league form has been poor, they had a very good win at Leyton Orient in the last round and this will be a special game for them.

‘It is sold out which will not happen too often there so it shows how much it means to them and how they are treating it.

We are favourites to go through but that means nothing. Cup football is traditionally David against Goliath and there have been many shocks over the years and we have to make sure we are not on the wrong end of one.’
