Morgan Schneiderlin, who came to St. Mary`s this summer, has been linked with a move to North London giants, Arsenal. The Frenchman, who turned 19 last week, has made an impression in his first season of English football.

He is a calm defensive midfielder whose variety of passes has made an impact in the young Saints side. However, a hamstring injury has resulted in the teenager not featuring as much as Jan Poortvliet and Saints fans would have hoped.

The Saints paid RC Strasbourg an estimated £1.2 million for the promising youngster; with the teenager looking worthy of what the Championship side paid for him. Southampton are renowned for providing players for Premiership sides. The likes of Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale and Kenwyne Jones all left the south coast in the last few years to join Premiership clubs. Schneiderlin may join that list in the near feature.

  • We bought this summer, despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth. I think he’ll stay at the club for a year or so…hopefully. I’m pretty sure that he’ll move on to a Premiership team. I can see him fitting in to the Arsenal system. He is, technically, a very good player.

  • Once again we show that we are a club willing to sell our best players. How are we expected to move forward when the club keeps selling the players????

  • I know it’s ridiculous. It was Lowe who was the one to finalise the deal. I’m pretty sure he bought him, to just sell him on a year later for a bigger price tag. We need to keep our better players if we are ever going to progress. We cannot just keep being a little feeder club.

  • I would rather that we by a player for 1.5m and have a 5m release clause. at least we will get some money for him. Its better than signing pulis on a 24 month loan!
