Saints face second placed United today, looking to capitalise on their recent poor form, which has seen Watford and Leeds both close in on the second automatic promotion place.

Jim Brennan:

‘Sheffield United are struggling as though the pressure is getting to them a little bit. You look at their last few results and they have struggled’

‘We have to stick to our game and we have the players to perform well and to win games.’

‘I think we are getting there and over the last few games the back four have been quite solid. Apart from the Watford game we have not really conceded goals so it does seem to be coming together.’

Sheff Utd Team News:

Alan Quinn is missing with a stress fracture to his leg.

Paul Ifill returns for The Blades after recovering from an ear infection.

Player to watch: Danny Webber

Saints Team News:

Veteran keeper Kevin Miller could make his Saints debut if Paul Smith hasn’t fully recovered from his midweek virus.

Saints have an extensive injury list, Richard Chaplow and Jermaine Wright both face late fitness tests while Darren Powell will miss out. He should be replaced by Claus Lundekvam, who’s recovered from a virus.

Playmakers Marian Pahars and Djemel Belmadi are again doubtful.

Darren Potter returned to training this week and could feature.

Player to watch: Peter Madsen

Madsen has scored in his last two games and is currently one of Saints most eager players as he looks to earn a permanent contract.
