Southampton literally paid the penalty on Saturday as missed spot kicks costs them and eventually saw them slip to a 3-0 home defeat against Watford.

The home side had the chance to go ahead when Richard Lee brought down David McGoldrick but his spot kick was saved by the Watford ‘keeper, the away side then took the lead soon after through Tamas Priskin (10).

Southampton then won a second penalty but again Lee saved, denying Paul Wotton this time. John Eustace (30) capitalised on this miss and another from Priskin (41), his second of the match, secured the points before the break.
