Towards the end of last week Stern John was allowed to depart for Bristol City on a loan spell.

The Southampton forward has be sent out on loan until the end of the year and will be hoping for more first-team football than he has been getting at St Mary’s this season, which has been minimal, even more so considering he was the clubs top scorer last season.

The 31-year-old Trinidad international has been unable to break into Jan Poortvliet side this season, although the Dutchman insists this loan is just a cost cutting measure and nothing more.

Do you think that allowing Stern John to leave on loan is the right thing, if a cost cutting measure it couldn’t really be avoided could it?
