Paul joined Southampton in the summer of 2008 and was one of the first signings of Dutch manager Jan Portvliet.

Arriving from Plymouth, where he clocked up over 400 games, Paul was used primarily as a defensive midfielder.

He was a regular in the side at first though under Nigel Adkins he was unable to get a look-in. His last appearance under Nigel was as a late substitute in Saints victory over Oldham at St Mary’s.

Recently he has been on loan at Yeovil and it is thought that he could return to them at least for the remainder of the season.

Saints never really managed to get enough from Paul but the way that the team has been set up didn’t really help his cause.

Farewell Paul and good luck for the future.
