SOUTHAMPTON and Leicester City are the only clubs in the Championship who are yet to add to their squads during this transfer window.

While Saints trial Polish striker Marek Saganowski, Leicester City are currently going through take over talks with former Portsmouth chairman Mandaric.

All the other clubs in the Championship are bolstering their squads, with Birmingham City bidding to keep hold of Arsenal loan star Larsson.

With the news that the Premiership TV revenue is set to rise again, it is imperative that Southampton get out of the fizzy pop league this season if they want to establish themselves in the top flight again.

The gap will only grow the longer it takes to win promotion.

Southampton Independent Supporters Association chairman Mick O’Callaghan said: ‘I was definitely expecting some signings this month.

While TUI editor Nick Illingsworth added: ‘I’m sure all the fans are disappointed with the lack of new signings.

‘I was expecting new signings by now.

Alan Frank a Saints fan from Winchester said: ‘I would have loved us to bring in someone like Todorov, a proven scorer in the Championship, and also a classy centre half.

‘We’re only those two players away from being top two material’.
