FORMER Saints gaffer Steve Wigley only won 3 matches during 2 spells as Southampton manager.

Both spells came in 2004, lasted 19 games over around a 5 month period before he was dismissed by Rupert Lowe to be replaced by Harry Redknapp.

Wigley returned to the academy where he enjoyed great success before leaving Southampton a year and a half ago to become first team coach at Manchester City.

This weekend’s cup tie, brings the two parties together for the first time since Wigley’s departure.

In the Echo Wigley said: ‘I don’t really dwell on what happened when I was manager at Southampton, but I have no regrets.

‘I was offered the manager’s job once and turned it down and then was offered it again and took it.

‘I enjoyed my spell at Southampton. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t proud of what I achieved in terms of youth development.
