Paul Sturrock or ‘luggy’ as he was affectionately known has returned to management as the manager of Swindon Town FC.

Sturrock replaces the managerial duo of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet who left to take over at Leeds United earlier this month.

Sturrock endured a tough time at Saints, he was controversially sacked only two games into the 2004/05 season.

Subsequently Sturrock did a good job at Sheffield Wednesday, getting them promoted from League One and keeping them in the Championship. Many Wednesday fans were disappointed with the sacking.

Luggy told the Swindon Town Official Site:

‘Swindon is a big, big club and we would like to think that we can start climbing the leagues. There will be changes. I have seen the players this morning and first impressions are very important to me.’

‘League Two is very competitive but myself and the coaching staff know what it takes to get out of the division. We have a formula and we want success.’

From all at Vital Southampton we would like to wish Paul Sturrock good luck in his new job.
