Andrew Surman admitted he felt sick after last night’s 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield United.

Surman, 22, thought he had grabbed an 89th minute equalizer when he volleyed home to give the Saints faithful something to cheer about.

However, just four minutes later, Blades substitute Jamie Ward spectacularly converted a difficult chance to stun a St. Mary’s crowd.

The England Under-21 international confessed to the official site that he felt sick after the match: ‘I feel sick,’ Surman confessed. ‘We got back into the game and I thought we were going to win it, we didn’t look like we were in any danger but then it’s a great effort from their striker and we’ve ended up losing the game.

‘To score the goal that got us back in the game was obviously great at the time,’ he added. ‘But it means nothing now that we’ve not come away with anything.

‘The momentum seemed to be with us after the goal and we created a few clear cut opportunities but unfortunately it didn’t quite drop for us.’
