Saints Match Zone

1 Tackle, 6 Interceptions & 2 Key Passes Sees Southampton Man Impress Yet Again

Southampton’s penultimate Premier League game of the season against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon didn’t quite go to plan.

An early goal from Marko Arnautovic gave them the advantage and despite a brighter start and improvement after the halftime restart, they got two more goals against the run of play to take all three points and the victory.

With Austrian gaffer Ralph Hasenhuttl shaking things up and recalling the likes of Fraser Forster, Jack Stephens and Mohamed Elyounnousi to effectively put them in the shop window, I doubt many fans are too upset following the result as the aim of retaining our Premier League future was secured last week.

Statistics website Whoscored gave their Man of the Match to Jan Bednarek for his efforts on the day with a score of 6.64.

Completing the top five best performers on the day in their system were Stuart Armstrong (6.61), Mario Lemina (6.51), Fraser Forster (6.36) and Jack Stephens (6.24).

Onto the last match now and then preparations for next season can really begin.
