“The Only Way” – Hasenhuttl Wants More After Improved Southampton Display

|

With the November international break now at an end, Southampton go into what is effectively a tough but, must win clash, against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Sitting in 19th place in the table with plenty of performance concern issues, whatever positives can be taken, they are overshadowed by only one point being gained from our last five matches in the more recent form guide and pressure is mounting on Austrian gaffer Ralph Hasenhuttl as his magic from last season, simply hasn’t returned.

There was more reason for hope after that showing though, as with less possession, we caused plenty of problems for Arsenal and we almost held on for all three points. Having taken the lead twice through Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse, they needed a stoppage time leveller to share the points.

I imagine Hasenhuttl will be far happier after that one but plenty will feel it was two points dropped.

Speaking to the BBC as he met with the press following the game, our gaffer said of the match.

“We were critical and tried to go back to basics. The key today was we were more on the front foot. We have to big up the positive things. The only way to get something from the Premier League is to be as energetic as we were today.”

Is Hasenhuttl still the right man for the job?

Yes, he needs more time

No, he's out of ideas
