It is reported this morning by the Sun Newspaper that Southampton have turned down an £8 million package from Man Utd for Gareth Bale.
Saints chief executive Jim Hone has comfirmed this by being quoted as saying “We have turned down an £8m package for Gareth.”
It is rumoured that as part of this deal Alex Ferguson was willing to loan Bale back to Saints untill the end of the season.
Southampton appear to be holding out for more money, prehaps £12 million as it has been rumoured in this morning southern Daliy Echo. Or it may be that Bale has told the board he wants to stay at Saints.
Manchester United are said to want to sign Bale to replace the out going Heinze
