Lots of Southampton fans have flocked to thank former boss Nigel Adkins for the amazing memories of 2012.
The former Saints boss led us from League One to the Premier League in successive seasons after it looked like we had been banished to third-tier English football for years to come.
Our 4-0 victory against Coventry City in 2012 sparked mass celebrations from players to fans, which Adkins recognised as Tuesday marked the eighth anniversary.
Is Nigel Adkins one of the best managers in our history?
Yes
No
Adkins took to Twitter and said that his players were a “special group of people” and it is a “team to be proud of”.
Because of this, supporters hailed Adkins on social media and spoke of their fondest memories of the former boss. One fan said that he was an “epic captain of our ship”, while another said that he deserves the “freedom of the city”, which many would not argue against on the South Coast.
