Southampton Academy graduate James Ward-Prowse is slowly becoming one of the plus-points of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign and following the arrival of manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, the 24-year-old has certainly lifted his individual form.

With the Austrian gaffer admitting that he sat down with him earlier in the season to point a few things out, and that he’d been impressed with JWP’s attitude and application after the meeting, with a bit more of an advanced role once again, it’s paying off for him as having failed to find the net in the opening half of the year, since we turned into 2019, he now has four goals in the last ten games.

Speaking to saintsfc, Hasenhuttl described him as being the ‘complete package’ as he lauded his talent.

“I think he shows in every game that he’s not only a hard-working guy, but he can also come into positions where he has the chance to score. Against Arsenal he had two situations where he could score, so it’s not a coincidence that he’s scored four times – maybe he’s in a position that’s a little bit more offensive-orientated that allows him to score a little bit more. He’s the complete package at the moment that fits perfectly in our game.”

With the next international break almost on the horizon, it’s also being reported that JWP’s uplift in form has has attracted the attentions of England gaffer Gareth Southgate once again.

With one cap to his name as a late substitute back in March 2017 in the game against Germany, he may get a second shot this month.
