Southampton striker David McGoldrick has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

McGoldrick, 21, is under contract with the Saints until 2011, but with the clubs financial problems, last seasons top scorer could be leaving St. Mary’s.

Forest boss Billy Davies is the first manager to show a strong interest in the young striker.

Davies will be boosting Forest’s squad after avoiding relegation from the Championship last season, and McGoldrick seems to be part of the ex-Derby County manager’s mind.

The Nottingham born striker made 50 appearances for the Saints last season, scoring 15 times.

Saints boss Mark Wotte wants to keep his best players for the promotion push next season, but is aware that a few players will be leaving the club in the summer.
