Report: 23 y/o Saints ace ‘interested’ in move to English giants this month comments from boss

Che Adams is reportedly interested in a loan move to Leeds United this month despite Ralph Hasenhuttl’s fairly public stance on the matter.

According to The Mirror, the Championship side are yet to give up on hope in signing the 23-year-old attacker this month on a temporary deal due to the Saints youngster eager to move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side this window.

The English giants, who currently sit top of the second-tier, are keen to sign an attacker this January following the departure of Eddie Nketiah this month after Arsenal recalled the English youth international back to north London, and Adams has been a player that has consistently been linked with a move.

Will Adams score a goal this season?

Yes, he just needs a confidence boost

No, he has not proven himself

Yet despite the constant rumours and this latest update that Adams himself is keen for the deal to happen, Ralph Hasenhuttl has publicly admitted that the former Birmingham City striker will leave the club this month yet also acknowledged that the youngster’s confidence has been shot.

The Austrian manager said to The Southern Daily Echo: “I wouldn’t consider loaning him out, I need every player, especially in an attacking position as we don’t have many. He’s not so happy at the moment because he didn’t play that often and hasn’t scored so far but we know what we have with him and we know that we need him.”

With Hasenhuttl keen on Adams remaining on the south coast this month, it seems like a deal to bring the attacker to Leeds could be dead in the water despite contradicting reports, and the 23-year-old could be better off staying put at Southampton.

Adams is still featuring regularly in Premier League fixtures for the Saints as stats from Transfermarkt show, and with the forward still a fan favourite at St. Mary’s despite his lack of a goal, staying put and trying to get that first professional goal for a club in the top-flight could be what gifts the attacker his confidence back.
