It seems almost crazy to think that Southampton spent £18m on Jannik Vestergaard, yet that was actually the case when the club signed the Danish centre-back in 2018.
Southampton are reportedly open to offers for towering centre-half Jannik Vestergaard. The club would like to recoup the £18m they paid Borussia Monchengladbach for him back in 2018.

Fast-forward to now, though, and the Saints seem to be ready to cash in on the towering defender, with The Southern Daily Echo reporting that the club would consider selling Vestergaard this month, with Southampton aiming to recoup as much of the £18m they spent on the Dane 18 months ago.
Is the defence the number one area Ralph must improve this window?
Yes, we leak in too many goals
No, things are starting to turn around for us
With Vestergaard falling to the bench in recent weeks for Southampton as stats from Transfermarkt show, some Saints fans on social media thought the club were having it on with the report that the south coast side were aiming to make their money back on the former Bundesliga defender.
Here’s what some Saints fans had to say about the club seeking to make their money back on Vestergaard on Twitter…
We want £18 million for him!
We’ll be lucky to get £10 million.#SaintsFC— (@jwpszn) January 9, 2020
will get nowhere near £18m, we were totally mugged off.

Be lucky to get 10% of that

Good luck with that £18 milly! Absolutely laughable the club thought it was worth paying that much for him

£18m? Sure there shouldn’t be a full stop between the 1 and 8?

Good luck with that one. Will be another wate of money out on loan for the next 2 years

The 27-year-old defender has been the subject of interest from Werder Bremen as reported by Sky Sports News, however, a deal couldn’t be completed.
