Report: Agents convinced English giants can secure Saints signing despite ‘hands-off’ stance

|

Football agents are reportedly eager that Che Adams could join Leeds United this transfer window despite Ralph Hasenhuttl publicly admitting the striker won’t leave this month.

Football Insider claim that agents with some knowledge on the potential deal are convinced that a deal can be done to bring the 23-year-old attacker to Elland Road even though the Southampton manager has issued a fairly public ‘hands-off’ stance for Adams in recent weeks.

Hasenhuttl admitted to The Southern Daily Echo that Adams will remain at the club this month with the former Birmingham City striker slowly beginning to feature again for the Saints after months of being frozen out of the starting XI as stats from Transfermarkt show.

Will Adams score a goal this season?

Yes, he just needs a confidence boost

No, he has not proven himself

Yet despite this public stance on the attacker, Leeds are seemingly still pushing to add more attacking firepower to their squad following the departure of Eddie Nketiah back to Arsenal after the youngster’s loan deal was cut short by the north London club.

With Adams yet to score a professional goal for Southampton this season since arriving in the summer, it is easy to connect the dots as to why a loan move back to the Championship would be beneficial for the 23-year-old, who last season scored 22 goals for Birmingham as stats from WhoScored show.

But for the Southampton no. 10, remaining on the south coast could be the ideal decision to make to improve his game.

With Adams returning to the first-team after some impressive performances against the likes of Chelsea and Huddersfield Town, Hasenhuttl could take a risk and gamble on the 23-year-old attacker regaining his productivity in front of goal in the second half of this season, and with the majority of supporters backing the striker to flourish, remaining with the Premier League side might be better than a temporary move to Leeds.
