Ralph Hasenhuttl has drawn a line in the sand over the possibility of Che Adams leaving the club this month by telling the Southampton board the 23-year-old will remain on the south coast.

The Express report that the Austrian manager has put his foot down over a decision to send Adams out on loan to Championship side Leeds United, who have been heavily linked with a move for the former Birmingham City striker as Marcelo Bielsa’s side continue to look for attacking reinforcements this month.

The report goes on to say that Hasenhuttl told the Saints board: “We are not selling Che Adams,” essentially ruling out any move for the Southampton youngster this month, who has also been linked with a move to West Brom as reported by The Daily Mail.

Does Che Adams need a loan move to regain his confidence?

Yes, he has to return to scoring ways

No, he has shown he is on the right path at Southampton

With the former RB Leipzig manager already asserting his position on Adams earlier in the window that the youngster won’t be leaving the club due to a lack of attacking numbers as per Sky Sports News, this latest update seems to have killed the story altogether that the Southampton no. 10 will leave on loan this month.

Despite Adams failing to score since joining the Saints last summer as stats from Transfermarkt show, the former Birmingham star has been impressive when given the chance, with the 23-year-old assisting Danny Ings last weekend to see Southampton claim vengeance over Leicester City in a 2-1 win.

Adams’ severe lack of goals is, of course, a worry for Hasenhuttl, but with the youngster still putting in good performances and the majority of supporters still backing the former Championship attacker to one day flourish, the Saints manager is seemingly making the right decision by keeping the youngster at the club for the remainder of the season.
