Report: Southampton board to ‘bow to the will’ of key figure to keep in-demand forward at club

|

The Southampton board will reportedly side with Ralph Hasenhuttl in the final decision as to what happens with Che Adams this January.

According to Leeds Live, Southampton’s recent upturn in results in the Premier League has seen the club board offer Hasenhuttl more power this month in terms of transfer dealings, with the report stating that ‘the board will bow to his (Hasenhuttl’s) will’ this month, meaning that Adams could remain on the south coast.

The 23-year-old attacker has been heavily linked with a loan move away from the Saints this month, with The Daily Mail reporting that Championship heavyweights Leeds United and West Brom are eager on adding Adams to their attacking ranks this January as both sides eye for the top spot in the English second-tier.

Despite rampant reports linking the youngster to a January move as well as the aforementioned Leeds Live report stating that Adams himself would be open to a loan move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side this month, Hasenhuttl seems very adamant on keeping the attacker at Southampton.

Does Che Adams need a loan move to regain his confidence?

Yes, he has to return to scoring ways

No, he has shown he is on the right path at Southampton

The Austrian manager has publicly stated via The Southern Daily Echo that he doesn’t want Adams to depart the Saints this month, a statement that was again reiterated as per The Mirror with Hasenhuttl hammering home that the former Birmingham City striker won’t be leaving the club.

Although Adams has failed to score a professional goal for Southampton this season as stats from Transfermarkt show, the attacker has proven to be a good squad player in recent weeks for Hasenhuttl’s side, with the youngster nabbing the game-winning assist this weekend against Leicester City.

With Hasenhuttl clear on his stance on Adams, it appears that the transfer saga surrounding the Southampton no. 10 could be finally coming to an end after weeks of speculation.
