Southampton midfielder has seemingly dropped a transfer hint that suggests he could be leaving St Mary’s in the near future.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked to move to the Tottenham Hotspur over the past few months, which haven’t appeared to have gone away as time rumbles on.

Hojbjerg has been near ever-present in our midfield and the Saints are determined to keep hold of the Denmark international.

Back in April, the Danish middle man admitted that he was flattered by the interest from Jose Mourinho in an interview with Viaplay (quoted by BT).

Football Insider previously reported that Spurs may tempt us into a deal by offering us Kyle Walker-Peters in exchange for Hojbjerg, who is currently on loan with us from the north London side.

Will Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave Southampton?

Yes

No

No

Teammate Angus Gunn previously described him as a “great leader” and one of the team’s “older heads”, which indicates that he is highly-regarded in the Saints’ camp.

But now he has revealed another indication that could see him walk away from Southampton once the 2019/20 campaign draws to a close.

An eagle-eyed Twitter user, in the name of Shane Callaghan, spotted that the Saints skipper had ‘liked’ a post relating to his potential inclusion in a Spurs midfield and whether he is the player that Tottenham needs to “complete their puzzle”.

Well if there was any doubt about Hojbjerg’s departure, this might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

In a positive spin to a somewhat gloomy report, James Ward-Prowse has been incredibly loyal to us and faithful to our cause. Therefore he should Hojbjerg’s successor and inherit the armband if he leaves at the end of the season.
