Southampton fullback Cedric Soares’ future has long been in doubt given far poorer form in recent times for the club and it appears the player himself may now simply need a fresh start to get back to his earlier best. A loan spell out with Inter Milan hasn’t been a great success and the 27-year-old has only made five starting appearances for them so far, with a further three from the substitutes bench according to Soccerbase.

With plenty of reports from abroad indicating that Milan will not be chasing his services come the summer, it seems the Portuguese international could be set for a different destination as he’s absolutely behind Academy graduate Yan Valery now.

A claim from tuttomercatoweb yesterday did suggest a potential interesting outcome for a summer deal, but I struggle to believe it myself.

They state that Jorge Mendes will attempt to take him to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The obvious links there write themselves, but I do wonder if this was an attempt at an April Fool, as I can’t for a second believe on his current form he’d get in the squad over the impressive Matt Doherty.
