Southampton’s deadline day dealings maybe didn’t quite spark into life as the phrase suggests last night, but we did get a deal over the line late on for Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

Having been linked with a potential move to the club for most of the summer, the 26-year-old does come to us on a loan deal that does include a permanent deal clause for next summer – whether that’s automatic based on games played or whether it’s our choice is the unknown quantity I believe.
With the £20million fee bandied around and claims of our reluctance to meet that, obviously whatever deal has been struck works for us.
With the deal going through late yesterday evening, Ings was with the group today to begin training and adjusting to his new colleagues and the clubs’ social media team posted up a little video of an effort he had in front of goal and it’s been well received by fans.
You've got a great hard working player, hope he stays fit for you and has a great season.

Not a bad introduction to training, now if he can do that in the first game we’ll all be laughing.
