Vice-Chairman Confirms Southampton Interest In Left Field Link

|

Last week Southampton were reported to have an interest in Austrian attacking midfielder Thomas Goiginger who plys his trade with Lask Linz.

The 26-year-old appears to be on an upward curve of late, as despite some confusion on statistic websites when it comes to his game time, he has recently received his maiden international call.

To save overly repeating the original speculation I’ll copy it in for those not aware.

Southampton Are Going Ginger, Wait, Hold On A Minute

The Daily Echo leant on follow up reports to the original claims by Austrian outlet Nachrichten and they have quoted club vice-chairman Jurgen Werner as confirming we do have a firm interest in the player, but we are yet to make what was speculated to be a £5million formal offer.

Confirming there had only been an enquiry they also firm up his stats a little and state that in 2018/19 he played 40 games, with a return of 14 goals and 17 assists and that certainly sounds a little more plausible when it comes to why manager Ralph Hasenhuttl may have an interest in him.

Maybe there is more to this one than I originally thought given the usual nonsense on the transfer rumour mill.
